Travel to Indonesia

Ok, so I'm writing this a couple days before my departure to Indonesia.

I am going to list below what all it takes to travel to Indonesia, specifically with the Peace Corps.

I am from Oregon so the first leg of my travel won't be too bad.

  • Monday, September 25th - flight from Portland, OR to LA, CA (2 hours)

  • Tuesday, September 26th - flight from LA, CA to Singapore Airport (17.5 hours)

  • 8 Hour layover at the Singapore Airport

  • Thursday, September 28th - flight from Singapore to Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia (2 hours)

This is definitely one of the longest flight days I have experienced. Basically 2 days of travel to get to Indonesia. One of the nice things about this travel plan though, is that all the other volunteers in my program will be on the same flight. We can start to meet and get to know each other before we are in Indonesia.

I'll try to update when I can in Indonesia...

No promises though!

I'm in Indonesia now and wanted to update on this post. The travel days were long and difficult because I am not able to sleep on planes so I maybe got 2 hours all together during the whole of both the 17.5 hour flight and the 2 hour flight. But.... I'm finally in Indonesia!

Below are some pictures and videos from the Singapore Airport
