Start of School

I start school/teaching on January 8th, 2024.  I’ll be co-teaching with 3 Indonesian teachers.  It was supposed to be 4 but the principal- who was also an English teacher- moved schools during the break and we now have a new principal.  This was a little surprising and nerve-racking for me because the principal of the school was the one who applied to have a Peace Corps volunteer there.  I was a little worried that the new principal might not be interested or want me there.  Although classes and teaching starts on January 8th, the teachers go to meetings the week before.  I have had a chance to meet the new principal, briefly but it seems like there will not be any issues which is great.

I’m not quite sure of my schedule yet but I do know that aside from teaching, the school has an English club that I will be helping with.  There are some upcoming English competitions that I’ll be helping the students prepare for.

Honestly, it often feels like I don’t have a lot of information so this blog post might not be very long.  However, even with the situation being at times unsure, I am excited to get started and work with all my counterparts.

The school has a dress code for the teachers that consists of specific color/designs to wear each day. You can wear anything within that color.

Monday & Tuesday - White and Black

Wednesday - Denim/Blue

Thursday - Batik

Friday - Dress, Any Color
