School Practicum is where we practice and get evaluated on co-teaching with an Indonesian teacher for the first time. It is 9 days long and we teach various levels of classes. We get evaluated in how well we work with our co-teacher, including lesson planning, teaching the class, etc.
It has definitely been a challenge because many of the teachers have been teaching for years and may not even need to lesson plan anymore so suddenly having to again is a bit of a struggle. Also getting used to the different cultural/societal norms is definitely a challenge for all of us.
It was nice to try out teaching with a counterpart and get some experience in Indonesian classrooms. That was great, however there were definitely some downsides and although I won't get into those on this public blog post, I definitely do think it has made me a little more cautious about my optimism around having a counterpart that works great together. But it definitely taught me a lot about being flexible.
Sorry this is a pretty short post.
Sampai Jumpa.
