Introduction To Peace Corps

The Peace Corps application is actually pretty long. I started applying the summer after my junior year of college (summer 2022). There was a very comprehensive written application, an interview over zoom, then once I was invited there was a bunch more to do. There are medical and legal clearance that take a long time, as well as getting passports and visas for the country you are going to.

It wasn't until a month or two before I was supposed to leave that I finally got medically cleared. That was one of the more stressful things because I was preparing for the Peace Corps with no guaranty that I would be cleared and officially going.

It wasn't until I got the Certification of Peace Corps Volunteer Service that I was sure I was good to go. I linked that document below if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Before going, there is a very comprehensive online program that Peace Corps has you do with information about the program, Indonesia, food, culture, education, language, etc. There is a lot to do on that and I was a bit overwhelmed by the quantity of it so I ended up putting it off until I finally did it and figured out it was not as much as I thought it was going to be.

Anyways, this is my first post. I hope to post semi-frequently but I am not very good at blogging.
