First Week - Minggu Pertama

I'm now in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. We spend the first week in the heart of Surabaya so we can do all the introductions and maintenance (i.e. bank account, SIM card, confirmation of visa, etc.). Then we move to a smaller village where the Peace Corps Training (PCT) facility is located. There we live with host families for three months and have our training sessions in language, teaching, and cultural knowledge.

I won't know where I will be stationed until the end of those three months.

For this first week, we have a long schedule. From about 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. we have sessions of all the introduction information. It's a long process with long days. The jet lag has been tough to get used to. With the long days, the jet lag has been hard to get used to, we have all been almost constantly tired.

We are finally getting our SIM cards and bank accounts tomorrow! I think on Friday here, we depart Surabaya for our training site and our host families.
