Cat Whisperer

Indonesia can be a very spiritual and mystical place.  Many residents believe in various spirits, ghosts, and things not from this world.  Now I want to say that anything I write about is my own experiences and things I have heard from others.  I do not try or want to speak for all of Indonesia and all of the beliefs people have here.  Indonesia is vast with extensive cultures, languages, beliefs, etc. that are very different from other places in Indonesia.  To say there is one central belief system in Indonesia would be to say every American believes the same thing, which would just be untrue.

That being said, there was an interesting career I recently learned about here.  That is a Cat Whisperer.

I went camping with a friend and her mom.  They have a cat and decided to bring him with us because he likes the outdoors.  We camped for 3 days.  On the first full day there, my friend’s mom let the cat out without his leash.  He ended up running into the forest area and we couldn’t find him.  However, all hope was not lost, because he had gone missing once before about one year prior and my friend’s mom had someone to call.  Who you gonna call?? Cat Whisperer!

According to my friend’s mom, the last time the cat had gone missing, she contacted the cat whisperer who is able to talk to the cats and help them get home.  Apparently after contacting the whisperer, the cat came home within an hour of when the whisperer said it would.  The cat whisperer doesn’t ripe you off though, because you pay half up front and the other half only if the cat comes home.

Anyways, my friend’s mom decided to reach out to the cat whisperer again and see if she could convince the cat to come back.  So she reached out and we were kind of just waiting for a reply but the cat whisperer said the cat was sleeping so she couldn’t talk to him yet.  Once he woke up she led him back to where my friend’s mom was.  Now it’s up to personal belief whether the cat whisperer led him back or if he got hungry and came back on his own.

However, that following night, the cat slipped out of the tent and went back into the forest.  We waited for most of the day but unfortunately we had to check out and go back to our sites.  We left contact information with the camp ground staff and the cat looked very distinctive so if someone saw it they wouldn’t mistake him for a wild cat.  My friend’s mom continued to be in contact with the cat whisperer who said the cat was still out there just playing and hanging out.  My friend’s mom when back and stayed at the camp ground again but the cat wouldn’t come back.  The cat whisperer said the cat regretted leaving but now there were too many strange people around and he was scared to come back.  Unfortunately they weren’t able to find the cat.

Maybe he’s out there just enjoying the outdoors or maybe someone found him and decided to keep him, I don’t know.

The thing I keep thinking back on is whether the cat whisperer was genuine or not.  If not, that’s definitely a career in which you take advantage of the emotions of cat owners.  If genuine then you are helping reunite cats and their families.  I guess it’s up to everyone to make their own opinions on whether the cat whisperer is genuine or not.  All I’m going to say is its definitely one of the more unique career options I’ve seen before…
